Music Monday #1
Our Music Monday thingy has expanded loads. There’s so many recommendations in there now I think people are having trouble keeping track of what’s what. So from now on I’m going to do a blog post on it with my recommendations and why I’m recommending them. How many times do you recommend that I can use recommend in a sentence?
Alan Wake OST
I got Alan Wake this week. It’s fucking scary! One of the highlights though is this geriatric duo who used to be in a rock and/or roll band called Old Gods Of Asgard. Their names are Tor and Odin. They even have a song in the game which is the reason I’m recommending the soundtrack.
Galatic – Ya Ka May
Galactic are a freakin awesome Jazz band from New Orleans. Their last album, From The Corner To The Block is one of my all time favourites. Its the album that got me into hip hop. The new one is called Ya Ka May and while it doesn’t really have as many hip hop tunes its still great. Listen to it especially if you like the new TV show Treme.
Wolf Parade – Expo 86
Wolf Parade are one of these weird anomalous bands that seem to be getting better with each album. Queen Mary was awful and with Mount Zoomer they changed things around and released quite a good album. Lots of people said its like Marquee Moon by Television. If thats so then the new album is more like the Talking Heads. Its out officially on June 29th.
